My favorite part about teaching at 91Ô´´ is: I love working with students and faculty who love the God who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and who desire to find their place in God’s work.
When I’m not teaching, I love to: Be outdoors, play floor hockey and soccer with students, and spend time with Charis and Stephen.
In my classes, students can expect: To be challenged to learn how to worship God with their minds.
My best advice to a new student in my program is: Come ready to grow!
Because of my influence, I most want my students to become: Humble, responsible interpreters of Scripture who respond to the call of God in our contemporary situation in faithful and creative ways.
The myth-busting truth about my discipline I most want people to understand is: Theology, especially systematic theology, is not collecting and rearranging verses from Scripture, nor is it making things up. Beginning in faith that God is reconciling all things in Christ through the Holy Spirit, theology seeks to understand what that could possibly mean.
A quote that influences how I live is: The apostle Paul in Ephesians 1.8-10: “With all wisdom and insight he has made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure that he set forth in Christ, as a plan for the fullness of time, to gather up all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.”
