Program Overview
Christian leaders minister in a complex and rapidly changing world. Effective leadership in this context requires a biblically-based philosophy of ministry, skillful analysis of cultural dynamics, the capacity to think and plan strategically, and the ability to lead and equip people to advance the worldwide mission of Christ in His world. 91ԭs Master of Strategic Ministry program involves a partnership between the academy and the church that equips students for this kind of effective, strategic Christian leadership.
The program includes online coursework in strategic ministry and a 12- or 24-month ministry apprenticeship at a partner church. Students complete a Leadership Core and can choose a concentration in a specialty area. Customized specialty areas are sometimes developed in partnership with church professionals on an as-available basis. Throughout the program, apprentices are mentored by 91ԭ instructors, some of whom serve on staff at the participating churches.
Students complete residencies with partner churches. To learn more about our partner options, or to become a partner, please contact the Admissions Office.

Seven online classes are designed to integrate with the residency experience. Learning objectives, activities, and projects emphasize hands-on, experiential learning in the ministry context. The curriculum outline assumes the program will be completed in twelve months, including two online classes per term. A 24-month option is also available if the student and partner church agree to this arrangement. Such students will take one online class per term.
